Summary of significant discussions:
· Zak Kennedy, lobbyist for several rural counties, tells the commissioners he’s trying to create a list of small issues that Rural and Frontier Counties can take to the legislature. The commissioners suggest the ability for small county to raise sales tax via a levy and the county could keep the entire amount. They also suggest different building codes for smaller counties. Kennedy says he’ll talk to other counties and come back with his report.
· The county will receive $149,000 in Title III money. The commissioners decide to give $100,000 to Search and Rescue, and give the remaining $49,000 to Firewise.
· Pam Johnson, County Treasurer, says cash on hand and current expenses are about where they should be at this time of year.
· The commissioners return to the issue of cutting fairgrounds maintenance down to only one employee but still holding the Fair every year.
· Josh Thomson, Public Works Director, and the commissioners discuss the issue on Davelaar Rd., a private road in Mazama that was greatly affected by the heavy rains. Commissioner Hover attended a recent meeting of several entities to see what should be done.
