Meeting Highlights:
Commissioners hear updates from Mike Wardon, Sheriff’s Office, Nick Bates, Fairgrounds Manager, Pete Palmer, Planning Director and Tim Meadows, Maintenance Supervisor
Shelley Keitzman, Human Resources and Risk Management, tells the commissioners that the dental plan covering 247 county employees will raise its rates by 11%. The commissioners decide to use $28,500 in their dental insurance reserve of almost $69,000 to buy a one-year rate lock.
Stanley Myers, Interim Director of the Office of Public Defense, tells the commissions that things continue to improve in the office. He also says he’s moving to Okanogan and would like to be considered for the position of Director of the office.
Commissioners consider ways to lower the budget for the fairgrounds. One of the options would be to hold many fewer events at the fairgrounds and recruit a non-profit to run the fair. Commissioner Hover is adamant that the county will continue to have a fair.
Meeting adjourned for the day at 12:06.
