Meeting Highlights:
Pete Palmer, Director of Planning, tells the commissioners that the workshops to educate people in the Methow Valley about recent changes in the county code concerning permitting, compliance and water availability have been well received.
The commissioners adopt Resolution 133-2025, putting fairgrounds employees on a 32-hour work week with full benefits. The change will take effect on October 21.
Commissioner Hover wants capital expenditures moved from the Maintenance Budget #009 to the LATCF (Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund) budget. Commissioners will allocate the money for projects as they come up.
The commissioners wonder if there is any advantage in paying off the Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds early. County Treasurer Pam Johnson will research the issue.
Commissioner Hover says they’ll review the Building Department’s budget on Tuesday. If he budget doesn’t balance, they’ll have to decide whether to raise fees by approximately 30% and keep the same level of service, or cut staff and accept a lower level of service.
