Meeting Highlights:
· Commissioners have received the final numbers for the Fair and learn that it ended up losing $40,000. They discussed cracking down on the number of free passes distributed. Commissioner Neal will make a suggestion later, but says it probably won’t be well received.
· Commissioners discuss upcoming bad news, calling it a gut punch, larger than the mill closing, and something we shouldn't be looking forward to. The public will learn the details later.
· Rochelle Cline of the Sheriff’s Department describes the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) Reentry Demonstration Initiative Project. The project will provide Medicaid health insurance during the last 90 days of a sentence in the County Jail and for 90 days after release. The project’s launch date will be in mid-2026.
· Meeting adjourned for lunch at 11:53.
· In the afternoon, the commissioners interviewed four candidates for District Court Judge, but the interviews weren’t recorded.
