Meeting Highlights:
The commissioners briefly revisit the discussion about forming a County Port District in order to be eligible for some state and federal grants.
Personnel from MJ Neal Associates interview with the commissions for the position of on-call architectural firm.
The commissioners and Sherriff Budrow discuss the possibility of the Drug Taskforce being funded by the county, the cities in the county and the Tribe. The county is being asked to provide $75,000 plus one deputy position. The consensus is that all of the entities want the Taskforce, but few have the means to pay their share.
The Sheriff’s Office presents the Civilian Meritorious Award to Troy Hertlein. Mr. Hertlein, a former army combat veteran, called 911 to report a motorcycle accident near his home, took his bag of medical equipment and rendered first aid before the EMTs arrived, quite possibly saving the man’s life. A video of the presentation can be seen on the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
Meeting adjourned for lunch at 11:30.
