Meeting Highlights:
Commissioners Neal and Timm talk about what a success the fair was. There were considerably more animals exhibited than last year, and the livestock auction was a great success. They also discuss hiring a Fair Manager.
Stan Myers, newly named interim Director of the Office of Public Defense, tells the commissioners how he’s been trying to get the office stabilized and headed in the right direction. He wants to make sure that attorneys are prepared when they appear in court, have spoken to their clients, and have appropriate orders drafted.
Roni Holder-Diefenbach, Executive Director of the Economic Alliance, describes its newly completed Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy She and the commissioners also discuss the possibility of establishing the county as a Port District without a tax base which would allow the county to apply for certain state and federal grants.
The commissioners OK a purchase by Public Works of a used snow-blower from the WA-DOT. It will cost $21,800 and replace the county’s snow blower that was built in 1969.
