07.15.2025 Tues AM BOCC

Meeting Highlights:

  • The Drug Taskforce is losing its funding from the state. It hopes to receive enough funding from the county and all of the cities where it operates to continue its work. They’re asking the county for $75,000. The BOCC will consider the request after the county votes in November on the sales tax increase to fund public safety.

  • Cari Hall, County Auditor, gives the mid-year finance report. Both spending and revenues are about what is expected for this time of year.

  • The BOCC is considering going to a 36-hour work week starting in 2026 to help balance the county’s budget.

  • Wayne Walker, CEO and President of Lifeline, asks the BOCC to spend up to $280,000 of the Tonasket EMS District’s surplus funds to buy an urgently needed new ambulance. Commissioners agree to a budget supplemental. The ambulance is a demo model and should be delivered by September.

  • Sheriff Budrow asks the BOCC for $50,000 to hire a third CORE (Community, Outreach, Response and Engagement) program employee. He hopes that in the future, the position will be funded by grants. Commissioners agree to create the position and to a budget supplemental to fund it.

  • Meeting adjourned at 11:46.
