Meeting Highlights:

  • The Big Fix (free spay and neuter clinic) is discussed during public comments. Some people using the clinic are not residents of Okanogan County. Because the Fairgrounds waives the rental fee for the Agriplex, the commissioners wonder if anything should be done about the situation.

  • Nick Bates, Fairgrounds Manager, discusses bidding requirements for buying and erecting a steel building at the fairgrounds.

  • The commissioners learn that the U.S. Senate has passed a bill unanimously, authorizing the SRS (Secure Rural Schools) funds be distributed to rural counties, as it has in the past. The bill now moves to the House. Okanogan County was expecting $125,000 in SRS funds for 2025.

  • The commissioners sign a letter of support for TranGO’s (Transit for Greater Okanogan) $9,000,000 grant application to the Federal Transit Authority to build a new office and maintenance facility.

  • During the Public Works update, Josh Thomson, County Engineer, discusses several issues with the new policy for employees using county credit cards that some of his employees are concerned about. He will discuss the issues with Pam Johnson, County Treasurer and Cari Hall, County Auditor.

  • Meeting adjourned at 11:27.
