Meeting Highlights:

  • The commissioners and Nick Bates, Fairgrounds Manager, discuss the new procedures for ensuring people using the racetrack or arena have paid the $15/day fee and signed the waiver. People who sit in the stands and watch won’t have to pay.

  • The commissioners hold the monthly Finance Committee meeting with Pam Johnson (County Treasurer), Cari Hall (County Auditor) and Lisa Schreckengost (Finance Manager). The commissioners set the allocations for Title II and Title III for next year’s SRS (Secure Rural Schools) money. Also, Pam Johnson says she’s just learned that the PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) money has been received and it’s $1,000,000 more than they expected. She also reports that the county will earn approximately $450,000 more in interest that expected this year because interest rates haven’t fallen. The commissioners are very happy to hear this news.

  • The commissioners and Josh Thomas (Director of Public Works) brainstorm about possible routes for Methow Trails’ TWin trail that would connect Twisp and Winthrop.

  • Meeting adjourned at 11:45
