Meeting Highlights:
Lanie Johns, Clerk of the Board, reviews the timeline for adopting the county’s 2026 budget.
Shelley Keitzman, Human Resources and Risk Management, tells the commissioners that the Sheriff’s Office is organizing Active Shooter Training for September 12 for county employees. The courthouse will be closed for the day of the training. Also, Commissioner Timm will be attending the state’s Risk Pool Conference in July in Walla Walla.
Commissioners learn that Jill Sheley, NCW Libraries Board of Trustees member who resigned her position in January, now wishes to rescind her resignation. The commissioners decide that they will continue with their efforts to find a replacement for Ms. Sheley.
Anthony Barbanenet, sales rep. for Iron Sleek, zooms into the meeting to give a presentation about temporary ice rinks. Commissioner Timm is interested in providing an ice rink at the fairgrounds during the winter. Barbanenet mentions twice they the commissioners shouldn’t expect an ice rink to turn a profit. After the presentation, the commissioners agree to discuss the matter again later, when Commissioner Hover will be present.
