05.27.2025 Tues AM BOCC

Meeting Highlights: 

  • Larry Gilman, County Assessor, gives the commissioners his quarterly update. He discusses:how property taxes aren’t increased except by ballot issues,
    tax reductions and deferrals available for low-income seniors and the disabled and
    the recently passed state budget increase of several taxes but not property taxes.

  • The commissioners hold a public hearing to receive comments about the Solid Waste Management Plan Update. Kent Kovalenko, Solid Waste Manager, talks about proposed boundaries of the expanded Apple Maggot Quarantine Area near Oroville.

  • Josh Thomson, County Engineer, updates the commissioners. He confirms the SRS funds (first discussed by the BOCC during their April 22, 2025 meeting) are included in the budget recently passed by the House of Representatives. Also, the commissioners discuss different ways to track stolen machinery like the backhoe stolen a few weeks ago.
