Helping Citizens Stay Informed
"The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created." RCW 42.30.010

Upcoming Deadlines
Legal Notices
"It's important to check legal notices frequently in order to be aware of projects or other actions proposed for your towns, neighborhoods, or the whole county - and to respond by the deadlines. Checking the MV News via this link is probably the easiest way to find such info in a timely fashion. County Notices are frequently (not always) at the beginning of the entry for each week, and otherwise it's easy to scroll down."

Recruiting for Methow Valley Sub Area B and C Advisory Groups
The September 15, 2022, deadline has passed. 1-8-2023 - Update: It has been reported that there are now 7 applicants for subarea B but still only 3 applicants for subarea C. The Commissioners would like to have 7 members in each advisory group. Pete will report quarterly to the Commissioners, on how many applicants there are for sub-units B & C. If there are 7 applicants with enough diversity, then the sub-unit advisory groups would begin the work.
The Okanogan County Board of County Commissioners is seeking interested individuals to volunteer on an Advisory Committee for the Methow Valley Sub Areas B and C. The Advisory Committees will be charged with sub area planning, review and comment on projects within the sub area, update to sub area plans which are part of the Okanogan County Comprehensive Plan, and make recommendations to the Okanogan County Planning Commission on these and other issues in their respective sub area. Other duties may include:
- Aid the legislative body when formulating public policy and help transform policy decisions into action
- Address issues of interest or conduct background work on technical or politically sensitive issues
- Serve as a way to build public consensus on controversial issues before elected officials decide
- Give the community a forum for discussion in greater depth than is possible before a legislative body
